A special mass prayer ceremony was held at Sera Jey Monastery’s main prayer hall, in dedication to late Kasur Gyalo Dhondup, elder brother of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, who passed away on 8th February 2025 at 5.45 pm in Kalimpong, West Bengal, India.
Kasur Gyalo Dhondup, was a phenomenal figure in the post era of Tibet’s occupation by communist China, facilitating His Holiness escape from Tibet & refuge in India, and as the liaison for dialogues between His Holiness and the Chinese government. He has served as the elected Kalon Tripa of the Tibetan government in exile between 1991 - 93.

The annual Phurjel (Hayagriva Ritual Dagger) Blessing Ceremony scheduled on the customary 27th day of the last Tibetan calendar month, was held on 25th February 2025. The Tadin (Hayagriva Ritual Dagger), one of the sacred relic of Sera Jey, is annually taken out once for blessing devotees. The monastery’s abbot undertakes a series of meditation for several days as part of the preliminary ritual before the blessing day.

The annual Guthor Ceremony of Sera Jey Monastery was held on 28th February 2025, the 29th day of the last Tibetan calendar month. The ceremony is a Tibetan Buddhist tradition annually held on the penultimate day of the closing year to remove all negative obstacles & ills for the coming new year.

Sera Jey Monastery observed the Losar (Tibetan New Year) Ceremony on the first day of the new Tibetan Wood-Snake Year 2152, on the morning of 28 February 2025. Sweet rice, butter salted tea & cookies were served to the monk assembly.

Sera Jey Monastery's annual Hayagriva Retreat ceremony has commenced from 17 March 2025, it will conclude on 27 March 2025. There will be Hayagriva Fire Puja and Tsog Offering ceremony on the final day of 27 May 2025.
The monastery has arranged special areas for lay devotees to observe and participate the retreat. Besides, Dharma talk by a scholar monk are arranged for the lay devotees in the post lunch session.
