Sera Jey Monastery celebrated the 83rd Birthday of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama on 6th July 2018. The celebration was held at 5.00 am in the morning with the lighting of Butter Lamp by the monastery's Abbot, Disciplinarian (Dean) and the Chant Master, Mendel Offering to His Holiness enthroned portrait and followed by all respective Department and Khangtsen heads of the monastery. The assembly recited Netan Chagchoe (གནས་བརྟེན་ཕྱག་མཆོད།) prayer for the long and healthy life of His Holiness. The monastery's abbot presided the Cake Cutting Ceremony. Ceremonial Sweet Rice and Tea were served to the entire assembly. And caged birds were set free, a liberation ceremony in honor of His Holiness Birthday.
