inauguration ceremony of sjbccSera Jey Buddhist Culture Center - New York, was formally inaugurated on September 24, 2016. The governing body of the center and center's chief priest (head lama) in coordination with the head - Sera Jey Monastery, found it approrpriate to have the formal inauguration ceremony during the visit of head monastery's former Abbot - Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Delek, present adminstrator and former administrator - Geshe Thutpen Wangchuk and Geshe Thupten Monlam.

Mr. Kunga Tashi on behalf of The Office of Tibet - Washington, was the chief guest and inaugurated the ceremony.  

The Center was formally founded in 2012 at New York with a prime objective to dispense Buddhist teachings and services to the Tibetan and other Buddhist community in and around New York. The Center;s former Director - late Geshe Lobsang Ngoddup Deshitsang and members has made admirable and selfless dedication in establishing the center.

03 Oral Examination 2016Oral Recitation Examination for the academic year 2016-17 commenced on 18 September 2016 (17th day of seventh Tibetan Calendar month). The first two days will be based on course sylabus of respective classes, the next two days will be on supplementary study topics and the final fifth day will be on a study topic of ones choice.

The monastic institute has regulated the oral recitation to be conducted in written form to ascertain better evaluation of the candidate's presentation. Hence, the annual Oral Recitation Examinations are now conducted in writing.

06 award for best recitation in honor for HH The Dalai Lamas kindnessThe award ceremony for the special Recitation test conducted on 14th September 2016, in honor to repay for the immeasurable kindness and spiritual guidance of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama. The acting Abbot - Khentsab Geshe Tsultrim Choephel presented the award to respective pupils who have scored the highest percentages in their category.

07 Memorization Exam 4Sept2016The annual Summer Special Memorization Examination was conducted on 4 September 2016. Pupil monks presented memorization on texts of their choice before the acting abbot, dean and panel of exam evaluators. Leading scorers will be awarded with a meritorious reward before the sanga assembly.
