  Free Medical Clinic Camp: +  
 

Sera Jhe Health Care Committee of our monastery is organizing a Free Medical Clinic Camp at Bodh Gaya during the teachings of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in January 2010.

The Free Medical Clinic Camp will provide the services of medical doctor consultation, paramedic / prescription / treatment / medicins; and will operate from 3rd - 10th January 2010.

This humane program is specifically organized to provide emergency medical assistance to devotees - monks & lay, that is expected to be in over tens of thousands converging from across different parts of India & abroad to attend the auspious event in the most sacred Buddhist site of Bodh Gaya.

Lharam Geshe graduation ceremony:
 
 


The annual Lharam Geshe ceremony for the year 2009 from 18 - 21 December 2009.  Ten pupils will be conferred with the highest monastic scholarly award during the 4 day ceremony, following their successful qualification at their final year Gelukpa University examination held in September 2009.

This year's Lharam Geshe graduation ceremony has been pre-scheduled from its normal dates of 22nd & 23rd of 11 th Tibetan Calendar Month to accomodate with the Geluk Monlam Chenmo (Geluk's Major Prayer Ceremony) & His Holiness The Dalai Lama's teachings at Bodh Gaya from 3 - 10 January 2010.

Venerable Chonden Rinpoche is granting 'Oral transmissions of the collected works of Lama Tsong Khapa and his two spiritual sons' at the main Temple of Sera Jey Monastery from 11 October - 10 December 2009.

 
     
 
Dedication to victims of Typhoon Morakut:
 
 


The sangha community of Sera Jey Monastery dedicate prayers to the victims of the recent Typhoon Morakut at Taiwan.

Drolma (Tara) and Dukar (Ushnisha-Sitatapatra / White Umbrella) are two main prayers that the sangha assembly continue to perform to the victims & all those affected by the recent tragedy.

 
     
 
visit of Sakya Trizin Rinpoche:
 
 

is eminent Sakya Trizin Rinpoche - the Head Lama of Sakya Tradition, is on a visit to Tsechen Choekhorling Sakya Monastery at Bylakuppe from 3 - 15 August 2009.  

On the afternoon of 12 August 2009 Sakya Trizin Rinpoche dedicated a Puja Offering to the total strength assembly monks of Sera Jey & Sera Mey at Sera Thekchenlachi; and afterwards extended a visit to Sera Jey Monastery, during which mandala offering ceremony was performed by the abbot with traditional sweet rice & tea offering, and later to Sera Mey Monastery.

 
     
  Summer Retreat:  


The annual one & half month long (15th day of 6th month to 30th day of 7th month - Tibetan calendar) Summer Retreat has commenced on 6 August 2009.

The Retreat was preceeded with a prayer assembly gathering of two monastic institutes - Sera Jey & Sera Mey at Sera Thekchenling on the 15th day of 6th month (5th August 2009), as per traditional practice to profess oath for the retreat.

The retreat is observed with the intention to avoid circumstances of harming / killing insects & lives, that thrive during the season, by oneself when walking / workiing.

     
  visit of His Holiness The Dalai Lama:  


His Holiness The Dalai Lama graciously extended a visit in February 2009, during which Gelong (Bikshu) ordination was performed over one thousand monks from different monasteries across India.   His Holiness granted a grand Haya-griva Initiation at the Monastery on 21 st February 2009           Picture files

     
 

Mass Prayer  [20 - 22 Feb.2009]:

Mass Prayer at Sera Jey for three days from 20 - 22 Feb. 2009 to offer prayers & consolation to the lost lives and sufferings that is prevailing in Tibet following the peaceful protest by Tibetans in March 2008. The Monastery will be serving Tea & Bread in the morning & lunch at noon to the mass.
