Felicitation ceremony for His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso on the conferment of The US Congressional Gold Medal, held at Sera Jey Monastery on the 19th of October 2007

 

With our unwavering respect & support to the supreme, all knowing - His Holiness The 14 th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso's illustrious spiritual & universal mission for the promotion of peace & tolerance in human society and harmony with nature; and for His peaceful & non violent struggle for a genuine autonomy for Tibet, we celebrate the conferment to His Holiness The US Congressional Gold Medal award with a joyous celebration on the 19 th of October 2007 at our Monastery.

Abbots, Lamas, Administrators & monks of all monasteries in Bylakuppe; Representatives, Cooperative Secretaries & Staff of the two settlements in Bylakuppe; Principals, Teachers & Students of different schools; Heads of various Departments & Camps; and the public were invited for the celebration ceremony.

The festive ceremony began with the consecration & scarf offering ceremony for the portrait of His Holiness The 14 th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, followed by Sweet Rice & Tea Offering.

Geshe Tenzin Rabga – Secretary for Sera Jey Monastery, gave the welcome speech and anchored the day long celebration event.

Mr. Lhakpa Tsering – The Representative of His Holiness The Dalai Lama for Lugsung Samdupling Tibetan Settlement Office of Bylakuppe was the Chief Guest for the ceremony gave a speech for the occasion.

A brief biography of His Holiness The 14 th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso was read out by Venerable Lobsang Nyendak – former member of TPIE.

Khen Rinpoche Acharya Geshe Lobsang Palden – Abbot of Sera Jey Monastery presented a speech on the conferment of The US Congressional Gold Medal Award to His Holiness and expressed profound appreciation by all through organizing this festive ceremony.

The ceremony was marked with many different colorful Tibetan cultural performances – Opera dance, various folk dance & music, presented by Bylakuppe Tibetan Opera Association and by different schools in Bylakuppe. Every performance filled the occasion with joyous festive mood.

Lunch & Tea was hosted to all guests & audience public during the occasion.
